The Sri Disaster Fund has been formed under the umbrella of the Children’s Heart Project (www.childrensheartproject.org) a 501 (C)(3), non-profit organization. The fund has been organized by the Sri Lankan community of the United States and the aim of the fund is to raise $350,000.00 or more to build 100 houses for the tsunami victims in Sri Lanka. Present projects include building of 40 houses in Kahawa, Sri Lanka with a community center. An approximate size of a home is 560 SF (two bedrooms, living area, kitchen and a single bathroom) and built with bricks and cement. All houses are constructed in compliance with local building codes and inspected for stability/code compliancy by Honorary Architects and Engineers (private) LTD.
