Maharashtra Legislators Abuse Women to Protect Them
When legislators and representatives in the Maharashtra State Assembly were debating the bill banning dancing girls in bars, they were supposedly doing this to protect the dignity of women and for the welfare of women. However, some citizens groups (listed below) who observed the discussions reported quite differently. When the dance bar bill got debated in the house some of us had been "Isha Koppikar. she is an atom bomb, attttom bomb." "chutiyas . bhadwas.." [filthy abuses] "..these women who dance naked, they don't deserve any sympathy" "...these women loot men and destroy their houses .. " " these women who are opposing the ban, we will make their mothers dance.." These seem like statements from some sleazy dialogue that the Very sadly, these are statements made by our people's representatives Throughout the discussion, across party lines, the elected members One representative narrated an incident of his friend's daughter who had committed suicide because she did not get a job. I came across this article right now and if any of it is true then the persons that made those comments should be dealt with most severely. They must of necessity be treated with full contempt. I am a councilor in the City of Johannesburg and find it totally appalling that any person that calls themselves a legislator could even think those remarks and still make them known to any other person whether in private or public. If your organization or any of its representatives ever find it necessary to come to South Africa I shall be happy to host you here. Please send this comment to the speaker of the assembly where that meeting took place so that whoever it is may know my disgust with that incident.
Finally I wish you to know that as man I don’t think in that way nor do I speak in that way and I can that on behalf of the many other men I know. My other contact details are: Mobile: 27 73 633 7613
Kind regards
