Dear Gertrude,
I went to Sri Lanka in high school as an AFS student. I had never heard of it before I learned I would be going there, just as you did not know of Minnesota before your Scholarship to the U of MN.
What I want to know is this: are there any groups on people living in MN who are going to Sri Lanka to work there to help since the tsunami? Giving $ was important and necessary, but I'd also like to give my time this summer if I can find a group or organization to link up with for volunteer efforts. I'm a teacher and so am free in the summer. I'd do clean up, low skill building (I've worked on Habitat houses before), child care, teaching, whatever I can.
Please let me know if you have any ideas! YOu can e-mail or call me.

Sincerely,
Susan Oltman
