Walk for the Well Being of Children

The annual walk/run is Vibha's national fundraiser event. This event raises awareness about Vibha's mission and raises the bulk of the funds for the projects that Vibha supports in India and USA. Over the last six years, the walk has been a nation-wide success, reaching over a million people. (for a list of walks at our other chapters: visit http://vibha.org/vibhawalk/index.html )

The Minnesota chapter is holding its annual 5K/10K Walk/Run at Lake Phalen, St. Paul on September 18, 2005. You can register online at http://minnesota.vibha.org/vibhawalk

In addition to prizes for the run, a lucky draw will be held for all registered participants for a prize of two round air tickets within the US, courtesy Northwest Airlines.

Proceeds from this year's walk will be used to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities (BBBS) School-based programs at Andersen Elementary School in South Minneapolis.

Additionally, in response to the unimaginable tragedy of Katrina Hurricane, Vibha has ear-marked $10,000 from its reserve funds towards the rehabilitation of the victims, specially children. In addition, in all the ongoing Vibha fund-raising events (Vibha Run/Walks in Atlanta, Dallas, Austin, Minneapolis, and Washington DC), donors are given an option to direct their donations towards Katrina victims. The total amount (expected to be $25K) will be given to a local charity in the affected area. Through the expertize gained in the last 10 years to identify and support local charities, we will identify a deserving charity organization in its rehabilitation efforts, mainly directed towards children. With your support, we hope to make a small difference.

Vibha is a US-based, volunteer run, 501 (c)(3) registered non-profit, non-religious, non-political organization working to ensure health, education and opportunity for underprivileged children in India and the US.
