Beti Bachao Campaign in Haryana

It is really outrageous and a matter of national shame that when India is talking about a knowledge society and being a regional superpower that the prosperous areas of the country are witnessing the worst form of medieval barbarism where a female fetus is killed in the womb.

When the country is seriously discussing social justice which means the welfare and empowerment of women , dalits adivasis and marginal communities it is high time all of us seriously sit-up and take stock of the fast declining sex ratio in the country . It is ironical that prosperous Haryana and Punjab have the lowest sex ratio in the country.

For the past few years Asha Parivar has been campaigning on this issue in Haryana. Now we are embarking on a state level campaign from Kuruksetra. The schedule is given below.

Date- 13-06 -2006, TIME-6.00 PM

Place-on the banks of the River Markanday.near Markanday temple Shabad, Kuruksetra.

1. Inaugural Releasing of leaflets on beti bachao by social activists.

2. Addresses of the guests followed by candle vigil and observation of silence in memory of all the killed girl children.

Note - There is provision for accommodation and food for the guests coming form the outside.
