Make a Friend Across the Border

With improving telecommunications technology, it has become easier for us to make friends from across the world. This is especially important in areas where historical misunderstandings and creation of stereotypes have caused much violence.

In our globalized world, in fact, this is necessary for development of our communities and can be achieved through each of us taking action to make friends and learning about their cultures, their values, their needs – finding out for ourselves if indeed that is true. More people are in fact beginning to believe that decentralized efforts by common people – us – will bring peace.

Already, we have had school children in India and Pakistan chatting with each other. Children from Lucknow, India made friends in Hyderabad, Pakistan. Subsequently, conversations including children from Rohtak, Jaipur, and Karachi have also been organized.

So we are asking you to make friends among your neighbors. Get a group of your own friends together and make a group call if you like. It is really quite simple – guidelines will help you .

And here are some people you can contactwho are willing to help you meet friends among your neighbors, facilitating calls or even get you going.

So call and make new friends and write back to us with your stories at thesouthasianATgmailDOTcom.
