New Initiative by Friends of Tibet

In April this year, Four Directions UK announced its intention to concentrate solely on the continuing struggle of the Tibetan people for freedom in their own land.

We now able to provide more information on our strategy as we approach the 2008 Chinese Olympics and beyond. Our work will be divided into three main areas; Information, Education and Action. To this end we are delighted to announce our partnership with the newly-formed UK Chapter of Friends of Tibet and to confirm our continuing partnership with our sister organisation, the Tibet Urgent Response Network (TURN).

INFORMATION: TURN will continue to issue urgent bulletins, press releases and campaign alerts.

EDUCATION: Four Directions: UK will concentrate on education.

ACTION: Friends of Tibet (UK) will concentrate on direct action, including lobbying and protest.

If you live in the United Kingdom and are interested in joining an informal steering group to plan the work of Friends of Tibet (UK), we'd love to hear from you. Please email David Meanwell at david@friendsoftibet.org with your contact details and we'll tell you more. As part of Four Directions education work we're looking for people who could become speakers, talking to schools, colleges and various other groups. Again, if you think you might be able to help, please email David at Friends of Tibet. Make this the year to get active (or even more active!) for Tibet. Thank you.
