Movies and Indo-Pak Peace

Faisal Mamsa, a Pakistani physician in the USA, questions the role of media vis-a-vis Indo-Pak relationships and asks - What does an average Indian think about Pakistanis?

This is perhaps my second letter on a simar topic. Its a known fact that media plays a very important role in changing the mindset of the general population, particularly the youth.

Having watched the movie "Fanah", though very touching and well directed movie, it depicted a Pakistani as a terrorist. Today I watched "Kabul Express" and it again showed an anti Pakistani feeling.

On one hand there is a peace march going on from New Delhi to Karachi, Indian actors being caste in Pakistani Films and vice verse, Indian guests (directors and actors) visiting Kara Film Festival and talking highly about the same cultural background, but at the same time well directed films are made with a strong anti Pakistani themes.

I am a bit confused. What does an average Indian think about Pakistanis? Is it just a facade about the two countries being friends and in good terms? I would like to hear it from my neighboring friends.
