On 11 February 2008, the Indian Parliamentary Standing Committee on Rural Development invited comments on the Land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill, 2007 and the Rehabilitation and Resettlement Bill, 2007 to be submitted by 22 February 2008! As the North East Regional Consultation on the Land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill, 2007 & the Rehabilitation and Resettlement Bill, 2007 held in Guwahati on 16-17 February 2008 observed this is not the proper way to seek comments on blatantly flawed Bills.
