A Coastal Yatra to protest the lack of people’s voices and recognition of their concerns, as well as corruption during rehabilitation, is being organized starting from Vedaranyam on May 21,2005 and ending with a demonstration in Chennai on May 30,2005.

Government relief programs continue to be tied by corruption and lack of democracy while international agencies and governments are meeting to sneak in their selfish agenda. Meanwhile, the voices and concerns of those affected are do not inform the rehabilitation plans. This is a report from India.

On Jan 22nd at the VARSITY THEATER in Minneapolis, the ARTISTS of the
TWIN CITIES pulled together and raised $7,968 to benefit the TSUNAMI
RELIEF EFFORT.

St. Paul, MN - On January 27, 2005, the governor signed into law a tax
benefit bill for tsunami donors. The law allows for charitable
contributions made in January 2005 for tsunami relief to be claimed on
2004 Minnesota individual and corporate income tax returns.

Organized by the India Association of Minnesota on Saturday, January 29th, between 10:30 and 11:30

The Minnesota chapter of Vibha organizes fundraiser lunch for Tsunami victims.

Tsunami relief fundraisers and benefits in the Twin Cities area

A Theater Mu Musical Adaption

A benefit concert for Tsunami relief that would feature local artists is being sponsored by the University of Minnesota School of Music and will happen on Saturday, January 15th, 7 pm, at Ted Mann Concert Hall.

A Sri Lankan American nonprofit arts organization, will hold a benefit show with local and national South Asian artists for their Sri Lanka Relief Fund on January 23rd at Coffman Union Theater at the U of M at 7 pm.

On Saturday night Jan 22, at the Varsity Cabaret, Mark Wojahn and Patrick Scully will host a WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS: TSUNAMI ARTS BENEFIT. We are asking the TWIN CITIES ARTS COMMUNITY to come together for a Gala friend-raiser for the tsunami disaster relief.

A metro-area church is heading an effort to host three concerts the weekend of February 12 and the call is out for musicians to participate.

Saturday, 1/15/2005, at 2PM there will be a very important PATH meeting to discuss how to distribute funds raised from PATH events.
