One for India
"By offering oral instruction in tribal dialect, incorporating tribal knowledge and customs along with modern classroom concepts, Bhasha brings students up to speed, allowing them to join regular schools after the board examinations" -From Bhasha Radio School for Adivasis"Her innovative learning aids and experiments have led to UNESCO recognizing them as some of the best in India and have recommended governments to review them for possible inclusion in learning curricula.." -From AID Saathi Chandra"Ayurvedic Doctors and Herbal medicine experts will instruct, validate existing practices, demonstrate and help in identification, collection and preparation of herbal medicines by women volunteers." -From Alternate Health Care for Marginalized Women The one million plus Indian diaspora in the U.S. is arguably the richest and most accomplished ethnic group. Undeniably, many of us got our start on the base of some of the best educational facilities India has to offer at most affordable public institution prices. As we contemplate our good fortune this holiday season, we cannot help but realize that, nearly sixty years after our independence, millions of us Indians are far from free, being essentially enslaved by poverty, malnutrition, lack of education, absence of even primary health care, to name a few of the most egregious straitjackets. If we are willing to lend a hand or a dollar and work in collaboration with concerned folks in India, both within and outside the Government, we can create opportunities for Our unfortunate Families. As we have realised earlier,"there is no peace but peace,no smiles but smiles and we are the only creators so if we do not then who will?"
The One For India campaign of AID appeals to every Indian, as well as concerned American friends, to generously invest some of their resources to help FREE every child, woman and man in India in this season of generous giving. Let the Villagers in India know that no matter how far away we may be,we are all children of the same MOTHER and they have every right to count on us.

"The project focuses on understanding the challenges posed by limited rainfall in a region which is primarily farmland and initiating a process of dialogue within the community to address them." -From Surodi Micro-watershed Project "The Samaj Shilpis are engaged intensively in drought relief work in this drought prone region over the past couple of years helping in road construction and repair." -From Samaj Shilpi | |
